Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study
prohibiting the use of, and finding alternatives for, menus
reciting dialing options on state telephones.

Whereas, Menus reciting dialing options on state telephones
can be very confusing to citizens; and

Whereas, Menus reciting dialing options on state telephones
save the state money on hiring employees to answer the telephones;
and

Whereas, Senate Bill No. 454, introduced during the 2002
regular session, prohibits the acquisition and use of menus
reciting dialing options on state telephones, but it does not set
forth any alternatives for state agencies; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to study prohibiting the use of, and finding alternatives for, menus reciting dialing options on state telephones; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2003, on
its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts
of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations;
and, be it

Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this
study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be
paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on
Government and Finance.
